Babylon is a cinematic achievement to every inch of the word. This further proves the point that Damien Chazelle is one of the best directors working today with him directing Whiplash and La La Land two of some of the best films of the last decade (btw I still haven’t seen First Man) and then has made this. The length of the film is needed to further expand and show how these characters function with the challenges of fame and fortune and how it can change a person and we witness this through Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt’s characters. The length makes this story more compelling than it would have be if it was shorter. The film begins where most films would end with the sex-fuelled cum parties in the 1920’s which introduces us to these characters in a perfect way. Some critics called it a muddled mess but that’s the point. Perfection.
