Just an underrated gem of a flick. So funny, thrilling and entertaining. I can watch Ryan Gosling falling though glass and off buildings forever. Crowe is also hilariously gruff. A tuff guy who longs to be good. They’re the weirdest comedy paring I can think of, especially one this successful. To round it out Angourie Rice is one of the funniest young actresses I’ve seen, she has excellent timing and reaction. This is truly the film to put on if you need to obtain a shit-eating grin for two hours. 

Ryan Gosling is a guy that I feel like I would never be about. Yet his work in this flick, Drive and Lars and the Real Girl, just make him one of my favorite actors. He’s ridiculously versatile. 

I wish this film was successful. I just want more fun flicks to watch in the theater. I’m glad I caught this one a few years back when it was out, but it’s just a rare type of release. I sadly feel that if this film stared superhero’s instead of detectives, it would have been huge. I’m just so over superhero saturating everything. 

I’d like to point out that Keith David is just a mainstay in epic fights in film. He is part of the greatest fist-fight scene of all time against Roddy Piper in They Live. His hot-tub, knife and gun fight in this flick against Crowe is also very epic. David just brings a fucking punch to whatever he’s involved in.
