I know I’m probably on my own with this, but this was genuinely my first time properly watching ‘Elf.’ I’d never gone for it before because my Christmas film rotation usually sticks to ‘Home Alone,’ ‘Love Actually,’ and ‘Nativity!’, the ones I always make time for. Honestly though, I think ‘Elf’ is heavily overrated. Sure, a few parts made me laugh, but it just didn’t pull me in the way I hoped.
I’ve never been a big Will Ferrell fan, to be honest. His style of comedy just isn’t for me, and I didn’t find him hilariously funny here either. I also thought parts of the plot leaned a bit too childish for my liking. I wasn’t expecting it to be super serious, but I guess I thought it might have a bit more depth. It’s weird because I laugh at just about anything, so I don’t think I need to lighten up; this one just didn’t click with me. I’ll probably stick with my usual Christmas favourites from now on. Hopefully, no one comes for me in the comments! 🤣 2.5/5.
