READ NOTHING BEFOREHAND.
I benefited greatly by knowing nothing about where this story goes, not even genre. If you’ve watched this you can imagine how shocked I was. Very loud “WTF?” screams in my head.
This story is executed brilliantly. The characters have lives, not backstory. Little of it is relevant later; they have experiences and skills not because the story needs it, but because they are human. I’ve grown so tired of formula story structure. Here’s a movie where something happens to four people who had other plans. It just happens, for 80 minutes.
Up there with HEREDITARY and THE BABDOOK for important new horror.
