A film I have seen at least four times now and which gets better and better with each viewing. Silly, whimsical and with a huge heart, ELF perfectly sums up the giving, loving spirit of Christmas. It is also such a genuinely weird film, especially the first act set at the North Pole which feels almost surrealist in places. A relentlessly peppy Will Ferrell attempting to get a relentlessly grumpy James Caan to love him never gets old: they are a perfect pairing (though to be honest, Ferrell has chemistry in basically everyone in this film-- one could argue that this is his finest comedic performance, especially with regards physical comedy). All in all-- it's great!
