Enchanting, magical, nostalgic - these words are the first to come to mind when thinking about La La Land. The musical numbers are incredible, the acting is excellent and the themes are relatable. However, the film primarily succeeds because of director Damien Chazelle's craft. Every frame is perfectly constructed, every scene incredibly well directed, every musical sequence perfectly executed, particularly the awe-inspiring "Epilogue" (one of the best cinematic moments of the decade). The film has a dreamy feeling that is hard to resist, and yet is also grounded to reality, blending well with its themes. My new no. 1 of 2016, and an entrant to my top 5 of the decade.
Also, I'll like to say a big "F**k you" to our great CBFC chief Palhaj Nilahani, who thought that this film was too harmful for anyone under 18 and thus slapped it with an 'A' rating.
