Never ever played the games but I still always imagined something resembling a gross hodgepodge of previous video game adaptations, most of which at their best are completely middle of the road. With Borderlands the casting is almost more baffling than the filmmaking, which is some of the most abysmal you’ll find thanks to Eli Roth. Everyone and everything is shockingly bad, I generally assumed that people were telling the truth when it came to the quality of this thing but it’s a legitimate chore to even try and understand the thought process here. Cate Blanchett filmed this before Tár which is so funny and god love her she’s trying to deliver some of the most ludicrous, unconvincing and unfunny dialogue you can think of.
This hits that rare level where I have no problem claiming it as one of the worst movies of the decade and we haven’t even hit the halfway point technically, that’s how confident I am that it’s already stamped its place in history. Jack Black and Kevin Hart must be stopped at all costs, either one of them being featured during your movie in any capacity is an instantaneous death blow.
