I am a good mom!!! I sat through three hours of this because the joy on my seven year old's face was exquisite. She danced, and I was happy.
Things that were of interest to me during the three hours: Taylor's stamina. She is the corniest woman alive but her fans love it; she plays into it all and they scream. She's telling stories. This woman "coyly winks" so much please light me on fire now. I think Blank Space is the song I like best if I had to pick, and I think it's because during the movie concert she made her voice sound unhinged in a way that she didn't for other songs. There was a backup dancer who from certain angles looks like Oscar Isaac; the game I played in my head was to find him on stage during each song. Hey, some of these 2020 album songs that I never listened to previous might be ok? Kool-aid scent wafting, but I persevered. Production design A+. Filmmaking? Guess it didn't ever matter.
My kid's only complaint was "when is she playing Wildest Dreams?!" and I had to explain, girl, Taylor's done with that album. Oh and she tripped and skinned her knee while dancing with the other hooligans in the aisles.
