Anchored by a highly engaging performance from Josh Hartnett, Trap feels like the most straightforward film we’ve seen from M. Night Shyamalan in decades, perhaps ever. Although this high-concept thriller loses some of its initial charm and momentum after leaving the concert setting, it doubles down on its core idea, suavely offsetting tension with sporadic touches of playful humour. Shyamalan's veteran direction elevates the material, creating a real crowd-pleaser that balances suspense and entertainment with finesse.
