A refreshingly goofy and ridiculous movie that for the most part never takes itself too seriously and allows Michael Keaton to shine is his iconic role that he still fits so perfectly into all these years later.
The production design, atmosphere, and practical effects do a ton of heavy lifting as well. The movie recaptures that old campy 80s-90s haunted small-town America vibe that has sorely been missing from entertainment as a whole.
The lighting in many scenes is pleasing to look at and pairs well with the creative set and creature designs that provide sincerity to the movie.
Keaton is immensely entertaining to watch as he soaks up every second he is on screen and is worth the price of admission on his own.
You can tell the cast and crew put heart and effort into the movie even if some plot points feel a little bit wasted like Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe characters once the conclusion is reached.
Although both are a ton of fun to watch whenever they are on screen, Jenn Ortage also does a good job in her role and is a nice paring with Winona Ryder.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice isn't a perfect film but it was undeniably fun and never tried to reinvent the wheel and maintained the wacky and kooky tone that defined the original.
