well, one of the opening lines is certainly correct, whodunits. seen one, seen em all. a meta whodunit has been done before, so this certainly isnt anything new but i believe that it was an enjoyable experience. i honestly really loved how early in the film, the ending is given away. the influence of Wes Anderson is noticeable and i’m not the only one to say that but i think it certainly adds to the charm of it tbh
and while i did enjoy this, i expected to enjoy it more than i did, and it does feel like a movie that would be in the most popular on letterboxd, up there with La La Land, Pulp Fiction, and even Knives Out
overall, i think it’s an wonderful film with a great twist, but i can’t help but be reminded of other, better films that have done it
UPDATE: originally at 3 and a half, the extra half star is for Saoirse Ronan, and Saoirse Ronan alone.
