a very tight script with just okay performances. the pacing feels a bit off sometimes and i never really fully engaged with it. BlackBerry being an actual company that failed certainly gives it some variety to the biopic subgenre but honestly it feels like the writers and director watched The Social Network (2010) and said “hey! i wanna do that!” which i mean, can you really blame them? that movie goes hard
but honestly, a 4/5 feels too high and a 3.5 feels too low. i think there’s real passion here, for sure, but i cant really see what all the hype and acclaim is about
but DAYUM, the soundtrack is incredible, both Slint and The White Stripes get needle drops
