Jaime Rebanal 🇵🇸’s review published on Letterboxd:
Always had a lot of admiration for Osgood Perkins as a filmmaker, and I imagine there'd be a whole lot of pressure on him carrying a legacy within the horror genre quite like his father did for playing Norman Bates in Psycho. Alas, I wish that I had always gotten on board with his work, because I find that I often come out of watching his movies feeling a bit cold, although that might very well be an aftereffect of being too familiar with what he's lifting from. But I think Longlegs might actually be where I'm finally able to see what makes him so special for many others.
Osgood Perkins really gets under your skin with this one - every minute of this movie is especially creepy and only builds on that unease so smoothly. Nicolas Cage is used sparingly, but that's also something that works in the movie's favour, because the moments where we do see him are as unhinged as you'd hope they would be - only allowing his moments to leave a big impact long after they've ended. I think I finally get the Osgood Perkins hype now.
