You know I’m trying really REALLY hard to go one year without a comic book movie in my top 10 or 20; but, I must give credit where credit is due and there’s a lot due here. Of course, the animation style is beautiful and does wonders adding to the substance of the thing. It’s refreshingly mature in spots and it’s funny without resorting the increasingly tiresome MCU schtick. If you can imagine a family-friendly version of something like KICK-ASS, you’ll know what you’re getting into and it works ridiculously well.
Little things that I loved:
•Nic Cage & John Mulaney are great and should each be given their own movies.
•Daniel Pemberton knocks it out of the park with another cool score
•Those posters with CLONE HIGH & SHAUN OF THE DEAD references are nice touches
