whatever can happen, will happen
i love to visit cinemas when i travel. even if its to see a movie i could’ve seen at home, i like to know how audiences all over the planet or i guess (in my case) americans enjoy film. at 7am this morning i learnt while in my memphis airbnb, that the city i was passing through tonight was playing one of my favourite films, one of the best films ever made, the exact format i enjoy cinema the most. did my 7.5 hour drive turn into a 10 hour one, and did i miss the first 57+ minutes of the film? yes. it ruined the first half of my day. did all my problems come to ease after i sat down into my comfy-ass leather seat and could stop hyperventilating from sprinting to the theatre, a 5 minute walk from my hotel? also yes. walked in right as the wormhole scene happened. the video message scene made my bawl like everyone else in the cinema, as did other emotionally hard hitting moments that haven’t clicked before. the indiana state museum imax is probably better than any of the tens of other imax screens ive witnessed. and the film projection was the cleanest ive ever seen. movie is one of the greats, im happy to be alive to experience any of the joys that movies can offer.
