Scream 4

Scream 4

As I said at the end of my SCREAM 3 review, I never watched SCREAM 4 before. I didn't even watched trailer for part 4, and I didn't want to, because I wanted to be surprised.

Well...I can't say that I was surprised, especially since movie end up being kind of lame, and for some reason I didn't expect much in a first place. I'm actually not sure yet if SCREAM 4 is slightly worse then part 3, or equally bad.
The whole thing didn't look good from the very start when they basically repeated intro killing sequence over and over at least 3 or 4 times (presenting them as intro sequences of STAB movies), each time with different actresses, trying to mock the horror franchises that have bunch of sequels, and each is worse and more idiotic than the previous. The whole sequence was to much like parody, and I almost had a feeling like I'm watching the beginning of another SCARY MOVIE. And it doesn't help that most of the characters (including Dewey, Gail, and especially Dewey's deputy) act so silly like they are really in a parody.

And the new characters, new kids, they are all basically copy's of the characters from the original, but they where all so uninteresting, and I wasn't caring much about them. Hell, I wasn't even caring about Sidney this time.
Also, story and motives behind all the killings where really lame and they weren't believable, same as the killers. I mean, when we finally find out who did all the killings, the whole thing is just ridiculous! Especially since Ghostface was really brutal in his killings, and he was throwing people around and shit, and there's no way that either of these two killers could have done stuff like that.

But hey, you know what...at least the killings where fun (and brutal as I said all ready). And there was couple of other fun moments, but that was it.
Anyway, now that I saw all four movies, the final score is 2-2. First two SCREAM movies are (still) fantastic, and I (still) love them. Other two SCREAM movies (part 3 and 4)...well...they aren't that great. Actually, they are kind of lame...even bad. I will probably watch SCREAM 3 in 10 years or so, when I will be rewatching first two movies again (because part 3 is part of the trilogy) . But SCREAM 4...I seriously doubt I will be watching that ever again. I have no interest or need since this is unnecessary sequel...

Its a shame that this is Craven's last movie...
