I loved A Real Pain's emphasis on the hypernormalization of all the pain and loss in the past and the way it's now talked about as something so casual, because the “real pain” is always there and those who experience it never forget it and it's passed down from generation to generation. Just like the genocide that the Palestinians are going through right now. And the apathy or normalization of what's going on right now that we feel as people who didn't experience it's bizarre. And not even talking about those who are on the wrong side of history. In these aspects, Kieran Culkin's character is very interesting, moving and thought-provoking to watch. Brilliantly performed.
