Here we have one of the best animated films of the last years!
I liked Zootopia (in German Zoomania) incredibly much, which has several reasons:
For one thing, you notice the great animations right from the start. The characters and especially the utopian world created here are loaded with so many details that you can watch the movie more than once, just because of the visuals alone.
Also the approach to the story is a completely different one from Disney: At the beginning I thought, here is the usual Disney formula: Little bunny goes into the big wide world, where you can become everything you want and your dreams can come true and so on...
But then the movie breaks completely with this classic Disney cliché! It tells NO story according to the motto: We are all the same and we all love each other, but makes clear that we are all different and then even deals with topics like racism or prejudices. And so the story as a whole becomes quite demanding and complex, at least compared to the level of animated films that are supposedly designed for children. Kids probably won't really understand the many references to other films either. When there was even a reference to Breaking Bad, even with the original voices of Walter and Jessie, I was really surprised. Great!
Of course, the necessary amount of humor is not missing out either, just the scene with the sloth is great. Just a few small criticism points for the fact that this Buddy-Cop thing is nothing new.
