Toy Story

Toy Story

Watched on Blu-Ray

When the child's room stands still and the child's feet sound far away, the toys come to life and live their very own everyday life, unnoticed by the world.

Andy's toys include a dinosaur, a feathered dog, a Mr. Potatohead, a shepherdess and a piggy bank. But the cowboy Sheriff Woody stands first. He is both Andy's favourite toy and a popular mayor for others. At least until Andy gets a Buzz Lightyear action figure for his birthday. He comes up with many modern, technical functions and is considered THE super toy par excellence. For the first time, Woody has to deal with the fact that he is not the only No. 1. He benefits from the fact that Buzz is not aware of the fact that he is a toy, but considers himself to be the TV hero of the same name...

"Toy Story" is a monument to animation technology and set new technical standards for the film world. In 1994 Steven Spielberg's 'Jurassic Park' established CGI effects as a style element in real films, one year later this first completely computer-animated cinema film was made - the 90s as the decade of the popular technical boom.

But what is even more important to me than the film's historical significance is how funny, detailed and beautiful this film is and what messages it conveys. Woody and Buzz are a classic odd couple, and their trip is a classic road movie with buddy airs and graces. But everything all around is original and new. The idea that the toys are alive is certainly anchored in many children's minds, and I think it's nice how much love they've put into it. Only the world with its figures has been designed very detailed and cute.

Woody is nice and likeable, but has to learn that he can't always stand alone in the limelight. Buzz on the other hand sees himself as a great hero and adventurer, but also has to realize that everything is just an illusion, and he has to deal with it. Then there are the tormented toys, which at first glance seem scary but have a completely different character.

And then so much humour and charm. There are the characters of the extraterrestrials, which I already liked as a child and which are still very funny today. Then there are all the other characters like the T-Rex, who couldn't hurt a fly, or the dry piggy bank. The toy humor is also funny, from the electronic writing board to the scene with Buzz's arm. The involuntary journey becomes an insanely entertaining trip for the viewer, too!

A lot of effort has been put into creating a perfect family film - with wit, message, worthy main and secondary characters, an exciting story, many small nuances both in terms of content and animation (the lines of the cast of the characters are recognizable!), a completely mature, small world, and a lot, a lot of charm! - and it has succeeded.

This is entertainment for young and old on a very high level!
