Since Letterboxd does not provide a summary for this film (Venus der Piraten or Queen of the Pirates), here is a short one:
The Italian Adriatic in the 16th century: The Duchy of Doruzza suffers from the despot Zulian and his daughter Isabella. When Captain Mirko and his daughter Sandra rebel, they end up in prison, but are pardoned by Cesare, Isabella's fiancé. Sandra and her father join forces with Albanian pirates to fight against Zulian.
This is a really shallow sailor spectacle with light fairy tale loans. It's quite pompous 70 minutes with numerous very neat fencing fights and humorous scenes.
The name-giving protagonist is already relatively progressive for the time, in which the movie was made, and earns the respect of her male comrades-in-arms, because she knows how to help herself in some dangerous situations and also leads fights, which seem hopeless. In the second half this progress unfortunately changes again.
The two villains are mean, sneaky and fun.
The hideous picture quality and the sometimes disastrous scene changes with connection errors of death reduce the fun tremendously. Moreover, the ship battles are quite boringly staged due to the most likely quite low budget.
Nevertheless a little recommendation for friends of pirates and fairy tales. It entertained me.
