At the time, I missed the movie in the cinema and then put it on the shelf for about 2 years, until I finally made up for it.
Well, basically I have no problem with slow movies, but that was really hard to hold out. I mean, the movie is only 10 minutes longer than Memories of Murder, which I saw yesterday. But it feels much longer.
I'm doing the film certainly wrong with my rating, because I actually liked it quite well. The equipment is fantastic, the actors are good and the look using yellow filters is based very much on the sepia-colored photographs from the early 20th century.
I had expected a more classic adventure movie than a history movie. But since one is obviously very closely oriented to historical facts, it stands out above all through realism. And realism also means that these voyages of discovery took a very long time and had to be interrupted again and again by failures. I was not aware of that. The film also deals with the family life of the discoverer Percival Fawcett in great detail.
So I can say that I'm glad to have seen this lush movie, although it was quite more exhausting than expected. I've learned something new today and that can not be bad at all.
