The first part of the series is actually one of the best of the whole tuning saga for me. Considered as a pure action movie it's successful. The story is hollow inside and outside and is free of big surprises (basically Point Break with cars).
But the scenes in which it gets to the point are not that bad. Vin Diesel, as a muscle-bound tuning guru, is also a cool guy. The rest are clichés...casual guys, lightly dressed ladies, hip-hop and pimped-out cars as far as the eye can see.
So, for fans surely a highlight and otherwise quite entertaining.
For teenagers this first entry might be actually really surprising, because it is about car races and tuning and the word "family" is said only twice, but not from Vin Diesel.
