Wes Anderson's second feature-length work is an absolutely special film, a delicate marvel of incomparable style and effect. Between high school comedy, Coming Of Age and relationship drama, Anderson masterfully balances the unique figures of his typical microcosm of scurrility and laconicity. Dialogues and plot are thoroughly brilliant, subtle and absolutely entertaining. Schwartzman as a teenage nerd is as outstanding as Olivia Williams as a widowed teacher. Bill Murray plays one of his best roles and is always a delight anyway.
Highlight for me besides the cranky characters is the fantastic soundtrack of the film, which offers many hits from the 60s and 70s and underlines the film absolutely brilliant.
A rare film of quiet tones, a feel-good film in which almost everything is just right and which you would like to see again...
