King #adoptdontshop’s review published on Letterboxd:
Annabelle Comes Home is that sequel from The Conjuring Universe that you wished got lost along the creative process and never reached cinemas. This film lacked the genuine soul of the franchise, which is heavily missed following the terrifying Annabelle: Creation. Comes Home is skewed pace wise and is too talkative for a horror movie. The thrills are generic and cheap too; I was waiting to be truly haunted but it never happened. The weak writing and Gary Dauberman’s direction is the possible problem here, because the single setting set-up and young character focus wasn’t an issue with its predecessors. Though the character motivations are understandable, the chosen plot can only offer a cheap, flavorless copy of The Annabelle experience as well. Overall, Comes Home is just plain boring. Maybe it’s high time to let these demons rest.
