It doesn't beat the original (not that I think it should), but I'm so glad to see Froy staring in a major horror blockbuster! If it wasn't for him being of the movie, it'd rate it 2.5-stars.
.
There's not much to say about the movie. It's a classic cheesy slasher movie, and the "villains" are almost as scary as in the original movie. I enjoyed the personality of both main characters. Froy's character has a very human rage which is not always represented in movies. Usually, characters in horror movies are basically dumb lol but here we see a little bit of diversity in that front. Mind you, I'm not saying the characters don't make dumb decisions! But at least they are more credible than the usual characters from movies like this. For example, he knew right away something was up with those mechanic guys when they stopped at the diner. Yeah, nothing innovative, but if you are a slasher fan, you should give it a try! You may have to endure some scenes in which nothing happens and some other slow-ass reactions hahaha but I think it's fun, overall.
It's a quite nice start of a horror saga for Gen Z. Hopefully, it can become something unique moving forward to the sequel. They basically used all the same elements from the 2008 movie. Let's see if they can build up some originality for the next one and compensate us for those weak final 15-minutes lol (not counting the post-credit scene).
