Now THIS is what I pleaded for in my Beetlejuice review.
Burtons back!
A classic in the making nor better then the 1st, no (Keaton, I love ya, but you're incorrect there, sir). But what this movie is is boundless FUN!
Burton and co got to play. That's the important bit here. They created something devoid of anything other then going back to what made us love Burtons early work.
It's like he and his friends got to make the most expensive home movie for their eyes only.
Now, does this have the same "Batman Returns" problem for me where Burton can make a movie a vibe & visual spectacle but can't structure a movie's plot for shit. Yes. Did the fact that it took 1 fricken hour for the plot to get going kinda suck. Yes. But once it does - it DOES!
Who knew out of everyone that Beetlejuice of all people (ghouls?) would save Tim Burton.
