This movie is so 2000. 2000s horror has this slickness to it, this kind of stylized TV look to it. Writing was filled with this snark. People walked around in revealing outfits.
But it still has a bit of the 90s 2 edgy for you. Lots of boobs and sex. Plus some really graphic violence. This movie is the bridge between the 90s and the new millenium.
The monster is cool, it's just a giant croc, but he gets the job done. Most of the cast looks like they belong on an MTV teen drama.
So why 1 star? The dude who looks like the average surfer dude has sex with a a girl. She tells him she is 19. Then later reveals she is 17 (though he peruses her after he knows this, so, gross). But this character gets topless and has a sex scene and can we all, as a society agree, to stop sexualizing underaged characters just wank material. It's gross. Stop. Why? Why do that? What's the point? Fuck you. I just hope the actress was 18 when she did the scene.
Or you can run to Greece with your 17 year old girlfriend and put her in a movie. That seems ok, John Derek did it.
