Infinity Pool, much like his other film Possessor falls into the sci-fi horror genre, as well as body horror. This film is not for everyone, it is dark, twisted and at times disturbing, if you have seen any of the Cronenberg family works you would know what I am talking about. There is a certain style and topic that they follow that breaks the norms and brings a distinct style of storytelling. The atmospheric cinematography and the audio score play as much of a role in the films as the actors or script does, and in Infinity pool this is vividly evident. The visuals of this film create dark feelings and stimulate an ugly, deep foreboding emotion, that is intensified with the tense audio that fills your mind. The film stars Alexander Skarsgård, Mia Goth and Cleopatra Coleman. It follows Alex and Cleopatra as they portray a struggling writer and his wife on vacation who, after an accident, discover the country's dark culture.
Overall, Infinity Pool is a film that will make you squirm, and one that does not play by any rules, it is triggering, tense and a visual voyage that leads you through the darkness of human nature only to arrive back at your departure destination. A very dark and unsettling watch but loads of points for creativity and film making style.
