Surprisingly funny, often tender, and, eventually, heartbreaking. I’ve grown to love Cutter’s Way, and now that I’ve seen this one too, I’m dying to see what else Ivan Passer did. His humane yet honest sensibilities are perfect for New Hollywood, and there’s an undercurrent of political consciousness that’s sometimes missing from these dramas (though more so in Cutter’s than Born).
