I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first film, I mean I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t think it was anything that special. This one on the other hand is so stylish and sleek that I really enjoyed it. You honestly don’t need that much knowledge of the first film to understand this one and I dont mind that at all. I’ve heard some people say that the only redeeming quality is the design and aesthetic of the film, but I actually really liked the story and characters. All of the performances are pretty great and I thought Ryan Goslings characters was particularly compelling. This is honestly such a perfect character for Gosling because it’s just the right mix of intensity and lack of emotion. It’s obviously a pretty lengthy film, but I didn’t really notice it because I was so invested in the story. Glad I finally got to watch this because I was not at all disappointed.
