Still goated.
One of the most amazing, fantastic, light hearted, inspirational and brilliantly well made films of the decade. Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse is in my opinion the greatest Spider-Man film of all time and the quintessential Marvel film along with Logan and Spider-Man 2. I rewatched this last night because i haved nothing to do and holy fuck! this film was BY MILES way better from what i remember. Loved pretty much everything about it, The Emotional and interesting Storyline, It's brilliant Screenplay, it's characters with soul and strong character development, Full adrenalined pacing, gorgeously jaw dropping cinematography and animation style. Miles Morales it's a spectacular antagonist and this film made me love the character even more. Even thoughhe is the protagonist of the film, Into the Spider-Verse is about it's character and so much more at the same time. Its deep understanding of the Spider-Man mythos, coupled with its bombastic visual style make it not only the best Spider-Man film, but one of the best animated films ever made.
The Plot of this film presents Miles Morales as he just started at a new school and is struggling to fit in. Then he is bitten by a radioactive spider and he obtains certain powers, similar to those of Spiderman. He doesn't know what to do with the powers, or how to control them, so naturally he turns to Spider-Man for advice. all of this happening at the same time a Multiversal collapse happens bringin spider-men from other realities. He becomes the new Spider-Man and joins other Spider-People from various parallel universes to save his universe from the menacing Kingpin
One of the strongest aspects of this Oscar Wiiner for best animated feature film is the deep message and themes that it touches. i swear to god that i can like the sam raimi spider-man and No Way Home films all whatever i want and feel nostalgic for them but those films doesn't hold a single candle in front of the quallity of this film (cry or no about it) simply by making the movie an origin story for Peter's successor, the filmmakers teach us the same lessons about heroism and responsibility we learn from Peter, but through a completely unique and new perspective of another wall-crawler. Miles Morales is such an inspiring role model for young children of color, but the lessons he teaches them are equally important as the representation he gives them. Not only do we see these lessons through the eyes of Miles, but Spider-Verse also allows us to see Peter Parker re-learn these same lessons in an exciting and original way. After the original Spider-Man from Miles' universe dies, he's left without a mentor that is, until he meets Peter B. Parker, a cynical and jaded Spider-Man from an alternate dimension. Through his relationship with Miles, Peter B. re-contextualizes his understanding of what a hero (and a good man) is, allowing him to return to his dimension and rekindle his relationship with Mary-Jane Watson. the chemistry between these two characters is perfect and feels so real. Leading to my next point: The Characters. All of them are fantastic and well writed giving them awesome personalities and badass voice performance. Gwen Stacy AKA Spider-Gwen was bitten by a radioactive spider and, using her newfound spider-like abilities to fight crime, became known as Spider-Woman. As Gwen, she joined a band as its drummer, and she had a best friend: Peter. At one point, she saved her father from certain death, Spider-Man Noir is a dark and monochromatic version of Spider-Man that fights new york's crime and Nazis in the 1930s during the World War 2, Peni Parker she was nine when his father died piloting the SP//dr suit. She was informed by her uncle Ben and aunt May that she was the only person able to carry on the project, and accepted the responsibility, allowing the radioactive spider that formed the other half of SP//dr's CPU to bite her, And last but not least Spider-Ham. He was born a spider, who lived in the basement lab of the goofy scientist May Porker. One of May's inventions went weirdly wrong; she was trying to create the world's first atomic hairdryer, believing that nuclear fusion would revolutionize the hair-care industry. All three dimensionally handled characters with interesting backstories that made them one of my favorite supporting characters in CBM History.
Another thing that i adore about this film is it's GOD-TIER Soundtrack. Sunflower has to be the best original song in a comic book film. It's so iconic, fun, addicting and blastfull to hear at it. It matches brilliantly with the film story and overall atmosphere.
"Needless to say, I keep her in check
She was a bad-bad, nevertheless (yeah)
Callin' it quits now, baby, I'm a wreck (wreck)
Crash at my place, baby, you're a wreck (wreck). But in my eyes (and i guess that everyone's favorite aspect about this film lol) is it's flawless animation and cinematography; lets talk first about the animation. This was my dream since i was a kid. a Animated film animated in a comic book style and this film finally made my dream come true. the scenarios are stunningly detailed and interesting, production desing and artistic direction is top notch making every frame of film look like a cinematic landmark when it comes to production design in animated films. And oh for the love of god the cinematography. This film takes the crown in comic book film history as the most beautiful and visually stunning comic book movie. Every shot is worth of a 8K wallpaper and the aesthethic and color pallete is just gorgeous and jaw-dropping. i fell in love wit this film's vibe and aesthethic that has become in my eyes one of the most perfect film of all time when it comes to films with perfect cinematography. Are they really sure that Roger Deakins didn't shoted this film???
Overall: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is one of the most incredible, fun, well made films of it's genre and of the 2010s. filled with things that we don't see quite often on CBMs like perfect direction by inteligent filmmakers, a script that touches emotional themes and fantastic dialogue, Excelent Characters, and Beatifully amazing cinematography. This is Sony's perfect redemption after the Abysmally God awfully dreadful Emoji Movie, that gets everything right to tell a great story that brings me all what i wanted to see of the spider-man character potrayed in the big screen giving us a Unforgettable ride from start to finish that will satisfie Huge Spider-Man Fans, Animated film fans and even Cinephiles in overall. The MCU with all his absurd Cgi Fest, Over the top humor and writing will never hold a candle to this masterpiece.
