Who needs The Beekeeper when you got Thelma Post?!
There have been a couple movies this year that I did not know much about until they were already in theaters and yet they became some of my favorites of 2024. First there was "Late Night with the Devil", then "Spy x Family Code: White", and now I can add "Thelma" to that list.
This movie was absolutely DELIGHTFUL!
At 94 years old, June Squibb has her first ever starring role and she nails it as Thelma. At first glance Thelma might seem like a typical sweet old granny archetype but when the film ended, she became one of my favorite movie characters of the entire year! I am glad to hear Squbb will have more lead roles in the near future because this is an actress that can carry a film just through her performance.
Heartwarming and oozing with charm, Thelma is one of my favorite films of the year just for how much joy It gave me while watching it. It's charmingly wholesome, hilarious, entertaining, and just as thoughtful as it is sweet. An absolute joy ride!
Can't wait to see this again!
