Wow… um despite the good cinematography, as well as Zoe Saldaña’s performance, I did not like this at all. The musical numbers are completely out of place, and I don’t think the writers even came close to presenting a thorough, in-depth, and nuanced understanding any of the topics they were covering. Even to the point where I’d say they were uneducated and inadvertently transphobic, whether they intended to be or not. People are calling Emilia Pérez (2024) our generation’s Crash (2004) for good reason. Which is highly unfortunate for me to say because I was hoping it’d be more than that. I’m so sorry, Zoe.
