I love Cronenberg. He along with his movies, with time has evolved his so beloved body horror genre. So much so to create a futuristic masterpiece like this.
Well I normally don't like sci fi movies. There are exceptions tho, only when it has touches of realism to keep it within the bounds. The blend of body horror and sci-fi was seamless. This was such a unique plot, very creative and sometimes very unsettling as well. The ending was beautiful indeed.
I at last took a trial of MUBI to watch dogville, just to stumble upon this after keeping this on my watchlist since 2022. Now I have 20 days until I cancel it before it charges me. xD
