High Life is a movie. I wasn't really excited for High Life, nor was I in the mood to watch it. But it was the most accessible of the A24 horror movies I hadn't seen since it's on HBO MAX and decided to watch it since SLICE wasn't working. And this was something, it was a really strange film. I don't believe I've seen anything like it at all, it's an incredibly depressing and bleak film. It's quite strange how even though I've seen most of the more conventional disturbing movies and found them less disturbing than a film like this. Sci-Fi horror always affects me the most and considering there wasn't actually a conventional antagonist or many horror elements at all I'm suprised it affected me this much. But maybe I'm being too nice to this film, it in itself wasn't amazing. The characters were mostly pretty lacklustred and barely had any screentime whatsoever which was a shame since I liked some of them, even Pattinson and his daughter's characters were lacklustred and bored me. The sexual elements caught me off guard and I cannot say I'm a massive fan of it. It felt like I wasn't supposed to be watching this even though it isn't even that vulgar whatsoever. The ending is fine, I didn't really care for the last 30 minutes or so it started to feel kinda episodic. The cuts were also rather confusing and I couldn't even tell that the girl he was with was his daughter and it was a time jump. There were a few plot holes like how did the daughter know what dogs were if she's never had any interaction outside of the ship and should have no idea what a doh is. Mia Goth was great and the soundtrack was kinda eerie. Yeah, it's just a pretty unsettling film. I really don't have anything else to say
