look, this is a near perfect movie from a narrative and structural standpoint. It's a perfect love relationship film. Real love must exist and we have examples of it in real life, but it ultimately still feels like a fairy tale. Love is tarnished by infedility, jealousy that'll get you murdered and jelaousy that'll kill you inside for watching your wannabe lover go with the dumbest guy in the world. It's a movie in itself when you realize the main character is pretty much the same guy who steals Mia Farrow from Allen. The dumb producer represents his unaware naive past self and yet also the present him who knows he's an asshole and doesn't intend to do a damn thing about it. The cherry on top, Woody Allen is telling us in our face this is reality, if you want happy endings go see a Hollywood movie. Well, he is right there in the frame but he isn't actually the one telling us and I think that's hilarious.
