This won’t be a review or hardly anything to do with this film but just an appreciation post for a wonderful human. 

As many of you will know Chadwick Boseman recently passed after a 4 year battle with colon cancer. I, like many other people, am extremely shocked and saddened to hear the news as I don’t think many people had any idea how he was suffering in his personal life and if I’m completely honest, that’s heartbreaking as he still performed his best despite the inevitable suffering he must have endured throughout the years. 

For me, the MCU transcends the big screen. It’s something I grew up with and it’s constantly on in my household so the actors and characters for me all mean something special as my teenage film watching years were mostly based around watching and following these films and engaging me in the incredible world they all created. Going to see Black Panther in 2018 was something special, Chadwick's performance was phenomenal and I just couldn’t get enough of it so I went back time and time again to relive that sense of amazement I felt upon first watch. However, Chadwick didn’t just give a great performance in this movie but in nearly every movie he’s been in, from Da 5 Bloods, 21 Bridges and 42 to Message from the King, Get on Up and Marshall, he was always a brilliant performer so the lose of someone like that is truly devastating. This news far surpasses movies, this isn’t sad because we lost an actor but because we lost a truly inspirational human being. A man that battled for so long without letting the world know and still made us all laugh and smile whilst deep down trying to face his own issues out of the public knowledge is heartbreaking. 

There was so much about Chadwick that I admired both as a person that stood for something important and a performer that always gave his best. The fact that he was fighting colon cancer whilst still making many of these incredible movies just shows the strength of the man but most importantly Chadwick Boseman was a good, kind hearted person and for that, the man who’s smile could light up a room, will forever go down in history.
