"For Caesar!"
Controversial take in coming but Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is, without hesistation, the BEST Planet of the Apes movie yet and my 2nd favorite movie of 2024 so far second only to Dune: Part Two. It respects the original Planet of the Apes films while fueling the Disney magic into it which is what elevated the franchise to its highest highs. The visuals are leaps and bounds more gorgeous than it ever was before! The film is very respectful to Ceasar's legacy especially with that opening scene (best opening scene of 2024) and a line constantly said in the film "for Caesar". But on its own, it's a coming of age story that takes its time and has a slowburn pace similar to War for the Planet of the Apes, but you never get bored with the film. There is so much in the film that this trailer didn't show and that's a good thing. It's filled to the brim with unexpected surprises that you're not gonna see coming. Noa isn't better than Caesar and he doesn't need to, but he does live up to Caesar. Proximus Caesar is the best Planet of the Apes villain yet. Sure, he does have a similar amount of screen time as Safin from No Time To Die but his screen prescence felt earned especially his motivation to be the next Caesar despite being nothing like him and more like Koba really is menacing. But Mae is the MVP! Not only is she the best character in the film but the best Planet of the Apes character in general. The trailer made you think she's just some damsel in distress but she's actually a badass. Yes, there is girl power in this film... in a franchise ruled by males! Not to mention, she has a gorgeous voice. Every time she talks it puts a smile on my face. There's much more female characters too like Noa's sister and mother. Don't listen to the harsh reviews, this movie is everything you want in a Planet of the Apes film and more! I know, this review is coming from a certified Disney shill I admit that and I know you guys reading this won't believe me but this is just my personal opinion. I just hope no one will say shit like diSNeY kiLleD tHe fRanChiSe.
