The first act is obviously the best: after an action-packed opening with the discovery of some hidden treasures, we meet Blunt's character as an idealistic agent, eager to fight the drug war, with some moral principles likely to be tested after she volunteers for a task involving a Mexican drug cartel and gets teamed up with some new mates.
This is followed by a drawn out extradition of a highly placed cartel member with an extensive car convoy leading to a tense situation with the spotter vehicle and the traffic jam on the bridge. After this, not much really happens, some interrogations and other connections lead to a tunnel used for the drug transport. As very expected Blunt never really agrees, but does accept to take part in the final raid where full videogame-style the 'action' is seen in nightvision or IR goggles. I thought it wasn't tense at all, we don't see any adversaries, and one character is able to enter completely by himself the lion's den, and manages to take out the drug cartel leader.
Strange, but it never really clicked between me and Blunt's character, and (apart from the first act) the action proceedings weren't actually engaging resulting in a disappointing experience, certainly regarding my expectations because of the high ratings and the back catalogue of the director.
