The Good News; It's a 2008 Horror film that wasn't about possession, demons or ghosts.
The Bad News: It's a laughable fucking mess with staggeringly poor visual direction that takes its dumbass premise way too seriously. The acting is terrible (Despite the actors not being half bad), the effects alternate between feeling like leftovers from a cheap Haunted House and TV show quality CGI and the musical score is mind numbingly irritating.
This film makes The Happening (The other killer plant movie from this year) look like a masterpiece. At least that film had some self awareness with some tongue and cheek dialogue and a 50s Sci-Fi B movie tone. The Ruins somehow made me take that seriously by comparison.
