It felt nice watching a movie that is important to me and to share it with people that are important to me. After losing someone I love, and going through a month of immense suffering, I’m getting better at clinging onto the other things I love, like movies, and the many other people I love, like Nana and Auntie Bev. A Letterboxd review is a weird place to share this but my girlfriend broke up with me last month. It’s kind of ironic the last thing her and I did together was see a movie. It was Across the Spiderverse (which I could probably never watch again). We watched so many movies together during our 2 and a half year relationship, maybe even too many. My girlfriend did many things to solidify her departure from my life. One that cut deeper than it probably should have was that she went as far as to deactivate her Letterboxd. I guess this app was a reminder of me she needed to get rid of. But completely deactivating definitely messed with my head a bit. As much as it’s not a big deal, it was. Everything is. I know she never enjoyed using the app anyways, and only used it because I pressured her to. Listen, I have so much to vent about when it comes to my break up, and I’m genuinely tiring out the people in my life by talking about it to no end. So I suppose the grief I feel over losing not only a girlfriend but a Letterboxd friend is one thing I can vent about to you guys, instead of my usual go-to support people. Thanks for reading. I love you all.
