It truly is a comic book brought to the screen. The visual style is completely different than any other movie that has come before and it is fresh and unique. In a few years there will be a bunch of imitators and it won’t feel as unique and special, but right now, it can lean on the visual impact. The story is charming and has enough comedy to stand and function on its own. The third act is really underwhelming as it falls into traditional superhero clichés and tries to wrap up the plot with a big generic fight scene a lot like Wonder Woman. The character driven aspects of the story were way stronger than the main plot and the action sequences and it seems to recognize that for the most of the runtime, pushing back those aspects until they couldn’t delay them any longer.
