y’all..this movie was so cool in every way. mad that i didn’t make the hamlet connection on my own but it’s all good.

the gore and the violence was my kind of gore and violence — not too much but enough to be strangely satisfying.

i just love the symmetry and blocking of eggers' films (shoutout dp jarin blaschke), it's like wes anderson lite. it makes you wanna pay close attention to everything that fills the frame. between the camera's movements and the often capricious characters we meet, you always gotta expect the unexpected in eggers' work. also! the color grading in the nighttime scenes...just beautiful

alexander......he was so ripped in this AND he did such an amazing job. you could feel alexander and anya's energy bouncing off each other, delivering equally wonderful performances. bjork really came out of nowhere but idk how i didn't recognize her voice.

and this review would not be complete without me dedicating it to iceland. if you met me in freshman year of high school you’d know i was absolutely obsessed with iceland bc i had visited it the previous summer and i'm still that country’s #1 fan so this movie was literally made for me
