So I watched it after Neelavelicham and I totally agree that there wasn't any need for a remake as it's quite the same, save for some alterations in the second half to cater to today's audience.
The romantic subplot is much quirkier in this as compared to the remake, which I found more appropriate to the era. The dialogues and performances, particularly the female lead's, are distinct. Bhargavi's character in the original is portrayed more fiery and spirited whereas in the remake, she's a little reserved. The portrayal of the antagonist is also more subdued in Bhargavi Nilayam, in contrast to the more overt depiction by Shine😐
Also I'm deducting half a star from my previous rating of Neelavelicham. Just saying...
