The Substance is probably the best body horror film I've seen in recent years. Coralie Fargeat's vision seeks to delve into youth and beauty standards in such an intense and disturbing way that it elevates this subject matter beyond our expectations through wild direction and writing.
Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley gave one of the best performances of the year and even Dennis Quaid delivers a riveting yet nasty performance that sometimes makes me want to punch him. Spectacular technical level, the makeup work is the best I've seen this year and I see it hard for anything to top it. Overall, I will watch The Substance many more times before I die.
