middle of the movie: life is beautiful
end of the movie..
Let's face it, it's a horror movie, and one of the best.
You open the movie and you feel warmth and joy in a colorful and fun environment where everyone is dancing and singing, almost “like a dream”. Until dreams intersect with reality.
Even though Mia's last words to Sebastian were “I'm always gonna love you”, the fact that she marries someone else and has a child makes you angry, this point of the movie sets it apart from other movies. Until the end of the movie, everything was so beautiful, wasn't it? We watched 2 young lovers with ideals together with beautiful song and dance, their love was like in *novels* but when it came to the end, none of us expected something like this, we all expected them to get married and be happy (at least me)
Here the movie draws a red line between reality and dreams.
No matter how much they loved each other, they had to sacrifice their love to pursue their ideals. What if everything had gone right and they were happy, as shown at the end of the movie? Then it wouldn't have been real.
La La Land welcomes us with the kind of love that can be told in stories, making us feel like we are in a dream and hurting us dramatically at the end of the movie. All the while, it allows us to have a good time with beautiful songs and cinematography.
