It definitely a bit too long for me, but Cynthia Erivo anchors this film with a charming and steadfast performance as Elphaba and her vocals are incredible. Ariana Grande shows up and proves the doubters wrong, she's absolutely hilarious as Glinda.
The Elphaba and Fiyero romance was so cute and Cynthia and Jonathan Bailey had so much chemistry, I wanted more of them!
I was loving the costumes and sets it's just unfortunate that the color grading/lighting design was so blah. It really did drag it down.
I'm not super familiar with Wicked, but I know a good amount of the songs, so I wasn't super bothered by how much they were splitting up the music, but it was a little irritating how it was every song like that.
Unexpectedly found myself very emotional at the Defying Gravity sequence tho, especially when Elphaba saw her younger self in the reflection. Yeah she's green, but it made me feel good to see a black woman have a moment like that.
