i have no idea what i just watched but i loved every fucking second of it. there is NOTHING i would rather watch more in 2019 than piss drunk willem dafoe and robert pattinson incoherently squabbling with each other like a tired married couple. insanity to the nth degree. some of the most haunting and memorable sound design i’ve ever heard.
watched an advanced screening at the atlantic film festival in halifax that included a q&a with eggers and dafoe. really special experience. the audio cut out before the first question and when it started working again the first thing the entire theatre heard was eggers going “i was depressed” and everyone burst out laughing. and also hearing everyone in the theatre cheer when the special thanks to the province of Nova Scotia came on screen after the movie.... magical!
