My, oh my, a 2023 film about a pseudo-apocalyptic take on none other than... the loss of Internet! Holy moly, what would worldwide governments do? And yet, to keep this under the commercial PG-13 safety, we have an unstable, “struggling” marriage between Roberts and Hawke making decisions with the same logic as a play on stage while Mahershala Ali coincidentally knows too much and interrupts the supposed thriller environment with amazing exposition of conspiratory stuff... The film forgets it is an actual thriller halfway through by the time you see CGI deer worthy of The Ring Two (2005) by Hideo Nakata.
If you think you have seen Kevin Bacon’s on-screen presence wasted way too badly before, this will surpass your top-of-mind case.
