In my opinion, the most appropriate approach to this film is to consider it as an epic, one that closes a circle with Boseman’s fate and opens another one, with Bassett at her strongest and acquiring an almost equally cathartic tone than its predecessor. Whereas Eternals (2021) did feel eternal due to an unnecessary prolongation of the magnitude of the events, trying to cover a span of millennia, the storyline scope of this strong sequel is well defined and mostly justifies its running time. The ancestors’ realm is played for the new queen’s arc’s completion, editing and sound editing enhance the action sequences above average Hollywood levels, Danai Gurira is furiously passionate and expressive, and the filmmaking itself ranges from absorbing tracking shots to wide-angle shots to convey a sense of great magnitude.
Letitia Wright must work harder to communicate the plethora of emotions and cultural implications that the Black Panther series represents, which has been the most satisfactory MCU proposal so far.
